EXECUTIVE OFFICE:
A Look at the U.S. Presidents Through the Lens of Leadership

Drawing on Traudt’s thirty-plus year career as a banking executive in corporate America and his love of history, Executive Office explores what it takes to lead well in ten timeless leadership principles and examines the U.S. Presidents through the lens of leadership.

Throughout the book you will meet the individuals who have held the office of the presidency as they are assessed and ranked by the leadership prowess they exemplified; putting others first, creating and communicating a vision and a plan, knowing their audience, avoiding hubris, and much more.

Part masterclass on leadership and part history lesson, Executive Office holds a mirror up to what great leadership looks like, and aims to inspire future and current leaders in communities, companies and public offices for years to come.

“In Executive Office, Tim has done something remarkable. By choosing to collect and share his ten principles in this book, he has given current and future leaders a true gift: a path towards leading better. But the book goes far beyond that — Tim’s evaluation of the U.S. Presidents through the lens of leadership principles is a fascinating read. What you have before you is part treatise on leadership development, part history lesson, and at all times an opportunity to reflect on what outstanding leadership should be.”

Timeless principles on leadership

“Someone once said, ‘The only thing left undiscovered is the history we don't know.’ Tim Traudt's tour through presidential history is a journey of discovery into the principles of leadership. The good, bad and ugly of the past have never been more instructive for today.”

All about leadership - a must read for leaders or aspiring leaders

“This book is all about leadership and how to become a stronger leader. It is an outstanding description of what it takes to lead people in any type or organization, whether business, government, non-profit or education. Tim takes his own proven experience and track record to identify key requirements for strong leadership and uses US Presidents as examples of weak and strong leaders. What a terrific way to focus on leadership as what other position requires more of it than our presidency. Some very interesting history here as well that makes for a great read.”

Insightful look at leadership through presidential examples

“Tim Traudt has created a delightful journey back through Presidential decisions/actions good and bad to illuminate the value of his leadership philosophy honed over many years as a senior banking executive and national leader. This book will be valued by the reader both as a quick historical look back at our Presidents as well as a thoughtful workshop on solid leadership principles. I highly recommend it to the novice historian and the aspiring or seasoned leader looking to sharpen their leadership skills. It will be a great book to keep on the desk or shelf and reference often. Enjoy!”

A historical affirmation of critical leadership characteristics (principles)

“There are many books on leadership… but there are two characteristics of this book that make it unique and most helpful. First, the list of spot-on insightful leadership characteristics or qualities of a good leader. And second, Tim Traudt’s creative approach to illustrating these characteristics by previous presidents. This book would benefit leaders of all organizations; large, small, for-profit and non-profit businesses. Current and future leaders would learn from and enjoy this book. I would definitely recommend Executive Office for book club and leadership group discussions.”
